The Shunning is the Hallmark Channel Original Movie starring Danielle Panabaker & Sherry Stringfield. The DVD was released on 9/13/2011. Hallmark has done it again as I sat up on the end of my bed in tears watching this movie. It was such a tear jerker and I could relate to so many of the characters in the storyline. This movie really pulls you in.
The Shunning: Before she succumbs to cancer, the dying wish of Laura Mayfield-Bennett is to be reunited with the daughter she never knew. Unfortunately, that daughter, Katie Lapp, is a member of the Amish order. Katie is about to be married, but uneasy about the path ahead. Now she discovers the secret her parents have kept from her: she’s adopted. You can visit the Hallmark Channel on the web and learn more about The Shunning by clicking HERE.
Wow, there is so much to this movie: true love lost, sacrifices made, unselfish love, secrets and lies, and confession and redemption! Katie knew something was missing; that somehow she was different. Set to marry the Bishop who’s previous wife passed away and fill that role along with that of mama to his two boys along with finding out the secret news about her past set her off her path and spinning on her heels to find herself. My only complaint is the ending. It left me sitting on the end of my bed saying “No, no, no, that can’t be it”. It was such a good movie I just didn’t want it to end. I wanted to know what happened next. 😎 Take a quick look at the movie trailer.
