I think the best way to learn a language would be to go to a country and live there but is that really practical or even an option for most of us. Not this girl. :-/ I chose to review the Lightning-Fast German since my husband was born in Germany, Military brat, and can speak it wonderfully. He actually worked in the multilingual department for a company at one point. If you were to speak to him you would swear he was born and raised in the south though. This book claims to teach kids German-quick as a flash, even if you don’t speak a word now! Does that sound to good to be true?
These books are built around every day situation so you don’t need to set up a special time to sit down and learn your new language. You can actually start learning your new language the day you receive your book. The words have phonetic pronunciation included so you don’t have to have a current knowledge of German. Best of all it’s fun!! You don’t follow through this book like a regular book you can just pick and choose what will work for you that day. For example, are you working on laundry today? Then go ahead and start on conversation 1, getting dressed. You hold up two different clothing items and ask in German, “Which shirt do you like better?” or “which one is yours” then when they don’t know what you are talking about say it again in English and then again in German. When they answer you in English The red one. Ask them to say it in German and tell them how. You can ask them “Ist das roht oh-der blow” Is this red or blue. There are so many ways to use this information and they really enjoy it.
The conversations include:
Getting dressed, What’s for breakfast?, Ready to go?, Where are we going?, Comparisons/Opposites, My toys, What’s for lunch?, a walk outside, want to play? Ouch!, How was school?, Time for dinner!, Over-Under-in-out, Around the house, and I spy.
In addition to these great conversations to use and learn your new language together there are fun activities that I am looking forward to using with my kids like: The map game, Treasure Hunt, Scavenger Hunts and more. I think my kids will really enjoy the scavenger hunt activities! We have already used most of these conversations and the kids are picking up on it very quickly. I think my little boys are grasping it even quicker than my 12-year-old and myself. 🙂 Carolyn Woods not only gave me this book FREE to review she is offering one of you the opportunity to pick the book of your choice.
