Tear-Jerker Alert!! I found myself with tears a couple different times during this movie. My husband and I watched this one together. He absolutely loves these movie reviews that we have been offered from FlyBy Promotions. This one was no different. Abel’s Field is a great family movie representing good morals and a good message!
About the movie (rated PG)
Left motherless by tragedy and abandoned by his father, high school senior Seth McArdle (Samuel Davis) faces enormous pressure as he strives to support his little sisters. At school, he endures the daily bullying of the football team. But fighting back only finds him singled out for punishment and assigned to an after-school work detail under the supervision of the reserved groundskeeper, Abel (SOUL SURFER’S Kevin Sorbo). Much to his surprise, Seth discovers that Abel may be the only one who truly understands his struggles. As dark times lure Seth toward desperate measures, the reluctant Abel may be the one person who can point him back toward the light. Just watch this short trailer.
In my opinion
This is such a sad story yet one that is believable. This wonderful Senior is taking on amazing responsibility. He is constantly faced with one heartbreak after another. (I cried) He is such a strong kid that just doesn’t give up. It would be so much easier to take the easy way out but he would not accept that and in the end he overcomes amazing difficulties. Movie reviews sometimes give away too much of the movie but this one doesn’t. (I love that) There is so much more to this movie than the description gives you. The ending is a super, roller coaster of events and shockers! You have got to watch! There were a couple things that made me chuckle that I thought they would’ve caught. Many people probably wouldn’t even notice such things but my husband and I have done our fair share of outdoor work. We laughed at the part where Seth is digging in the football field to put in the new sprinkler system and it was clearly obvious to us that a trencher was used to make the line that was dug but he had a shovel the entire movie. It was made to seem like he dug it all by hand. (I know silly thing to notice but it’s those little things we pick up on) Of course it didn’t affect the movie in any way and I give it 4 our of 5 stars. I really, really, really enjoyed this movie and it is one that I will watch over and over again. Powerful message and amazing morals are what this movie is all about. It’s a movie about overcoming huge obstacles to better things waiting on the other side with God’s help.
