The Whales Side of the Story

(I received this book for Free to review). Regardless, I only speak the truth on my blog and tell my true feelings for the products I review. )

Book coverHey God, I’ve Got Some Guy Named Jonah In My Stomach and I Think I’m Gonna Throw Up!, We thought this was just too cute. They boys sat, glued to my every word while I read the story to them. The way it is written it just comes to life for kids especially when you read it in an exciting way to them. I always try to become the characters for them and read it the way I would say it if I was the character and this book was just fun.

In my opinion

This book was a lot of fun!  The book is a beautiful, glossy, hard-c0ver storybook. The kids and I loved the fun way it was told.  He starts out introducing himself as the whale from that famous story, No, not the angry white one, and No, not he one who swallowed a puppet and a cricket.  It really is written in a fun way that makes you think about the story in a new way. It reiterates the original story as the whale flees the area not wanting to as God asks him to do just as in The Story of Jonah.  In this one the whale & Jonah learn together to be obedient to God. It was a huge hit with my children and it worked GREAT as a bedtime story….see picture below.

Ryker sleeping

After Ryker fell asleep we finished up the last couple pages of the story and then grabbed our Children’s Bible Story book and I read to Ryan, The Story of Jonah.  you could just see a greater understanding when I read it to him this time. He really heard the story this time.  As I have always said, “I love stories but when you do double duty and teach my children something as well that’s an extra bonus for me”! I just love teaching my children through story-time. I look forward to reading other books in the series.
