I am a firm believer that books/reading is the basic foundation for education so we read books all the time. I am so thankful that I have instilled a love of reading in my children and we read all sorts of books. Yes, my two youngest are both boys but that doesn’t stop us from reading books like “The Adventures of Pajama Girl and the Coronation of the Cupcake Queen”. My guys really enjoyed this book and I love watching their imaginations take flight.
A cute, illustrated story about a girl’s imagination and her magical pajamas. In this adventure, Ellie’s cupcake pajamas pave the way for she and her Sis to take a journey to a land filled with all kinds of sweet treats. Their journey quickly turns into an adventure to help the Cupcake Queen find the missing sprinkles needed for her coronation ceremony. In searching for the missing sprinkles, Ellie and Sis uncover a life lesson that is important for every child to learn. (Hardcover; 32 page book.)
About the author:
Sandra Hagee Parker lives in San Antonio, Texas with her husband, Ryan, and their daughters, Olivia and Elliana — the original pajama girls. A practicing attorney, Sandy is also a part of the music ministry at Cornerstone Church where she and her husband are leaders. When not working or writing, Sandy enjoys traveling with her family and mastering the art of making Pancakes à la Pajama Girl with her two girls.
My son, Ryan, age 7 loved reading about the author and told me that he is married and has two little girls because Sandra Hagee Parger is married to Ryan. 😛 He did mention that he also has a son but that he just wasn’t mentioned, lol.
They boys liked hearing how much they had in common with these two girls.
I love the rhyming way the story is told and the boys enjoyed hearing how they start the day like they do with breakfast, then school and then playtime. It says, “When chores and school work are finally done that is when my fun has just begun!” In our home the boys wake up and eat breakfast and then they get themselves dressed and they begin their schoolwork. After schoolwork is done they have to get their chores done and then they are free to play. Just like the girls in the story my boys, that are 17 months apart, are like best friends and fill their days playing together (peacefully most of the time). The girls talk about how excited they are for bed time because of the adventures that lie ahead because of her magical pajama’s. While my boys do not have magical pajama’s we read before bedtime every night. They get to take turns picking stories each night and I think that helps take them off to their magical places in their heads. Sometimes we change the words/names in the stories to change it up a bit and to be funny. I like the life lessons also taught in this story. When the girls first arrive in they see a distraught queen and immediately make it their goal to help her and make her happy. I take every opportunity available to show my boys how to do the same in real life from just helping an elderly person empty their cart into their car or simply by taking their cart for them when they are finished to donating to the food bank and making blankets for the city mission. Every little act of kindness is such a blessing and I think that blessing is doubled when it comes from a small child.
This is such a sweet story with a happy ending and they boys have picked it several times as their bedtime story since we received it. We read it twice in a row and then I had to demand a different book on day three, lol.
The Official Website has a couple downloads for free and after you buy they book you enter the receipt number and you will be sent an email with 10 more. My son, Ryan noticed an error on one of the downloads. I thought it was pretty funny. He said, “I don’t get it mom. There’s a 44 & 45 twice.” I had to explain it was just an error so he would continue on. 🙂Now both of my boys really enjoyed the story and downloads and they completed two different ones but they both said they did not want to color the coloring sheet. 😛 They just couldn’t bring themselves to color a girl picture.
