I have LOVED every Rick Warren book I have read. I actually own many of his books so when the opportunity came to review a storybook Bible for children I was excited to sign up. This book is published by Zonderkidz, which I am sure you already know, which is a high quality publisher. This hard cover book is beautiful. The cover is very thick and study and has a beautiful glossy finish to it. In addition to being an author, Rick Warren is a pastor and with his wife they founded Saddleback church in Orange County, California. This church has become one of the largest and best-known churches in the world. He wrote the #1 all-time bestselling book, The Purpose Driven Life. That is one of his books that I own.
God’s Big Plans for Me Storybook Bible, contains 40 Bible stories from It All Starts With God to the last story called Made to Last Forever. The pages are very colorful and tell a story while also giving the book and verse it is talking about. At the end of each short story it tells you to Think, Remember and Question. For example at the end of the first story it tells you to:
- Think: God has an important plan for everything he created
- Remember: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth
- Question: When you go outside, what are some of the things you see that God created?
I love reading but I am not really a story kind of person I am a learning kind of person. I like reading how-to books and books on subjects I am interested in like gardening so I can try new things and create the nicest garden for my family. Since these are the types of books I enjoy, I really love when I come across books for my kids that also stimulate their thinking beyond just reading a story. This book is a little below my boys reading level but they still really enjoyed reading it and we discussed the Thinking, Remember & Question at the end of each story together.
