Just when I thought I had time to get things going again with my blog and update you all on so much that has happened over the last few years another bump in the road. One of the many things I haven’t told you, we lost my father-in-law to a long battle with COPD/Emphysema on August 14th. That was very hard on the family. My mother-in-law has been together with him since she was 15 years old. The family really pulled together to help her navigate through this whole process and allow her the space and time to grieve as we all grieve differently. She has been insistent on living on her own. Unfortunately, she is not in the best of health and she experienced a fall on Monday this last week. She is now the reluctant owner of a back brace because of a compression fracture to her L3 vertebrate.
When I got home from work Wednesday I packed up the boys and myself. We left for her house on Thursday morning to stay with her and help her for a few days. She is in a lot of pain but they are wanting to give it some time to see what healing it can do on its own. She has already been seeing pain management due to her degenerative disc disease diagnosis many moons ago so she does have some pain medications that she has been taking. We have also been applying ice along with heat on occasion. They aren’t even considering kyphoplasty at this point. I hate seeing her in so much pain. She isn’t wanting to get out of bed much and hasn’t had an appetite but I did buy her some different flavors of protein shakes and she has been drinking those. I spent today getting my house cleaned up and things ready to head back to work tomorrow.
I don’t know about you all, but this family could really use a break. Hope you all are doing well and here’s praying that 2022 is finally the year things start to turn around as a family and as a nation.
