**This video was very helpful to me so I wanted to share it with you all too so we can understand how to find safe products. I knew products weren’t really policed so they can make a lot of false claims and it seems that this is OK.
I wish I would’ve got my garden going this year but didn’t get it done in time. That would have been the ultimate test. That’s probably a big part of why my garden didn’t get set up this year because I was subconsciously dreading the insect battle I knew I would have. I am happy to now know about some products that I will definitely try out next year. This was the set of products I reviewed:
— Ant and Roach Killer (14 oz can)
— Home Pest Control (24 oz spray bottle)
— Flying Insect Killer (14 oz can)
— Insect Repellent (6 oz bottle)
I found an ant in my sink this evening so I grabbed my Ant & Roach Killer and sprayed it. The ant died quickly and spray smelled like peppermint and wintergreen. It really smelled good while it did it’s job. With the crazy heat and drought we had in Oklahoma this year that really hasn’t been a problem with mosquito’s so I wasn’t really able to try out the natural insect repellent but have faith that it will work just as well. It is DEET FREE and repels for hours. This spray is not only supposed to keep the mosquito’s away but also gnats, TICKs and more. One thing there wasn’t a shortage of this year were wasps, however. My EcoSmart flying insect killer helped eliminate a few for me. The only think I wish the Flying Insect killer did better is spray farther. I would like it to have more of a stream shooting action than the spray so it can reach the flying insects from a greater distance. I personally like to kill the wasps from as far away as I can. 🙂 That said, however, it does work. They “dropped like flies”! Lastly is the product called Home Pest Control for indoor and outdoor use. This product not only kills the insects but it repels them as well. It is safe to use around children, pets and won’t harm the environment. You can even use this in the kitchen. This product will kill and repel: Ants (including carpenter, red harvester, pavement and Argentine), beetles, centipedes, cockroaches, crickets, earwigs, fleas, millipedes, pantry pests, pill bugs, silverfish, spiders, sow bugs, ticks and other crawling insects. I love this product as I am all about prevention instead of dealing with insects I would prefer just stopping them from ever coming in.
With the way these products worked for me and how well the smelled in the process I will definitely be trying out their garden products this coming year! I know that sometimes these products are slightly more costly than the “unsafe” products but seriously how can you put a dollar figure on our families health and well being. I am so thankful for products like these that help me protect my family and protect them safely with out poisoning them or their environments. Thank you EcoSmart!
