I don’t take skin cancer mildly. Cancer runs rampant through my family history from breast cancer – skin cancer. I personally  have already had a lump removed from my breast and laser surgery on my cervix.  When I saw the opportunity to review sun sleeves from Eclipse I jumped at the opportunity.  If it’s bright enough out for sunglasses you need Eclipse sun protection.
You may be thinking it’s just like wearing long sleeves but it’s not!  I am not sure if you have every heard about this material before or not but it is amazing.  We first came across this when my daughter was taking riding lessons and joined a riding club and they would enter in competitions and it was hot. They ordered team shirts made from this same material and they were so much lighter and cooler than regular cotton shirts.  This company was developed by a Physical Therapist that started seeing sun spots on her hands and arms after a move from Vermont to sunny Colorado.  She made herself a few pairs of these sun sleeves and soon after her friends were requesting them. She realized the demand for this product from hiker, bikes, golfers, and drivers.
No, I am really not any of the above but I am an outdoor enthusiast and we spend a lot of time outdoors. I am outside a lot with gardening and yard work and just playing with my kids or taking a walk on our AWESOME walking path.  We are also working on getting our boat seaworthy again and will be spending time out on the lake as well this summer.  These sleeves are durable, ultralight, quick drying, odor resistant, MADE IN THE USA, for men & women & children. This material is so thin that it will fit under gold & cycling gloves.  They provide UPF 50+ whether dry or wet and the UPF protection is built into the sleeve this isn’t something that will wash out or fade away. They block at least 98%of harmful ultraviolet rays.  They stay in place without a restrictive band around the top too. I don’t have any problem with them falling down. They are available in three sizes:

Small: 90-130 lbs | Medium: 130-170 lbs| Large: 170-210 lbs

(Best Sizing Method is by weight)

Actual Overall Sleeve Lengths : SM – 20 IN. | MED – 21.5 IN. | LG – 23.5 IN.

These sleeves are available in a lot of different colors and/or patterns. In the fall of this year, 2013, you will also be able to buy them as a sun glove if you don’t need the full sleeve.

In my opinion

These are a much needed product. I am so glad they will be available for children very soon.  I am not sure how exactly how this  material works but I will tell you that it actually was somewhat cooling. It didn’t make me hot wearing them out in the sun. I think everyone that spends time in the sun should have a pair. Whether you enjoy gardening, biking, drive for a living, skate boarders, hikers, etc. everyone that spends time outdoors should get sun sleeves, imo.

In 2009, a study was done on nearly 1,000 sunscreen lotions, which determined that four out of five offer inadequate protection from the sun or contain ingredients that may pose a health risk. Eclipse is THE best option for sun protection.  Eclipse products are made from natural material. These products offer a maximum UPF 50+ protection from ultraviolet A rays. I love Eclipse Sun Sleeves and hope to get some from my husband since he is always driving and for my children too.

Thank you Eclipse for a better answer in sun protection!
